Our Philosphy
Southern Hills is …
Driven by the Centrality of the Gospel
We do not only believe that the Gospel is a good message, we believe that the Gospel is the greatest message in all of history. God Himself became man, died on the cross and rose from the dead to make salvation from sin and death available for anyone who believes. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, but the Gospel's power does not stop there. It is also the glory we behold the glory of God in the Gospel we are transformed into the image of Christ as we know and love Him deeper. The Gospel must be at the center of all we do as a church.
Driven by the Sufficiency of the Scriptures
This means that everything we do is governed by the Word of God. We desire for all of our ministries to flow out of a correct understanding of what God has revealed to us in the Scriptures. Our goal is to create an environment where the Word of God is taught and applied. We want the Scriptures to change the way we live.
Driven by Sovereignty of God
We believe that God is in control of all things. This means that nothing happens outside of His plan. Our understanding of God's sovereignty changes the way we look at our world. It changes the way we look at the people around us and it changes the way we look at the circumstances of our lives. We believe that God is using the events of our lives to change us into His kind of people and to give us opportunities to share His Gospel with others.
Driven by Sanctification of Believers
The Scriptures teach that being a Christian is something that should change every part of life. God's plan for each believer is that they would use their lives to grow in their relationship with Him. The Bible calls this lifelong journey sanctification. We believe that the church's primary goal should be to help people in their process of sanctification and we hope that Southern Hills will be a place that fulfills that goal.
