One of the fantastic things about reading the Gospels is hearing the ways that Jesus describes Himself. What we see as we read the Gospels is that most often Jesus chooses to speak using metaphors and imagery in order to describe Himself and why He came.
In chapter 8 we hear Jesus describing Himself this way: I am the light of the world. But, while Jesus has come as the light of the world, there are still many who refuse to believe and continue to live in darkness.
