The first 18 verses of John are all one section and should be considered as unit. If we are going to understand the beauty and the weight of verses 6-13, we must first understand the significance of verses 1-5.
Because Jesus is the Eternal Creator God (verses 1-5) it should blow us away that He uses men as witnesses, that when He came some rejected Him and that to some He has given the privilege of adoption (verses 6-10).
