In the Beginning was the Word
The Gospel of John stands out from the other 3 Gospels. John takes a different approach to his retelling by providing a greater focus on underpinning theological truths. He writes less like a historian and more like a man who has experienced a life-altering truth that must be shared. We see this approach in the very opening verses of the Gospel as John reaches into eternity past and tells us of who Jesus is. He peppers us with powerful pictures of the nature of Jesus and awe-inspiring claims of His identity.
