God is For Us!

As we mentioned last week we are taking another break from our 10 Commandments series. This time it is so we can focus in on Thanksgiving. I think this is important because life never slows down this time of year, does it? Along with all the food, family, and fun of Thanksgiving comes a great deal of planning, preparing, and fighting traffic. It is hard to avoid a packed schedule this time of year. In the midst of all of this it is easy to lose sight of what this time of year is supposed to be about, isn’t it. Thanksgiving comes and goes and we spend little time being thankful because we were so busy planning the perfect day and getting wrapped up in all that is on our plate, both figuratively and literally. So it is good to take time tonight to refocus our busy minds and fan the flames of Thanksgiving in our hearts. And this is exactly what I pray that God would accomplish in us tonight. I want to dwell on some radical truth about God that will lead our hearts to bubble over with thanksgiving and gratitude. (Romans 8:31-39)
