The Resurrection's Victory

Back to Message Archive

Our culture loves winners. We love to celebrate champions. We throw parades for sports teams, we have ceremonies for heroes, we give medals to Olympians. As much as we love to celebrate victories, the reality is that they all fade over time. New obstacles arise, the glory of previous victories dull, former champions are forgotten. Our passage tonight shows us a victory that will never ring hollow or fade in time. The resurrection of Jesus provides a victory that is unending in its duration, there will never be another hill to climb. It is also a victory that is sweeter than any other as the enemy is defeated so fully and finally that the fear of defeat will be something that we completely forget. The victory we learn about tonight is one that is full, final, and infinitely satisfying.
