The Resurrection's Motivating Power

Back to Message Archive

We all have things in life that we enjoy and motivate us, right? We find ourselves motivated by money, relationships, pride, pleasure and the list could go on and one, but what should serve as our deepest motivation? What should motivate the way that we approach life? What should motivate how and where we choose to invest ourselves, our time, effort, energies and even money? What should motivate the way that we love others and even how we serve God?

We entitled this series on the resurrection of Jesus in 1 Corinthians 15, “This Changes Everything,” not b/c we enjoy being melodramatic, but b/c Jesus’ resurrection does, quite literally change everything. Last week we saw how it is the tidal wave that is changing the landscape of the future. This week we see how the resurrection changes everything all the way down to our motivations. Paul shows us in tonight’s passage how the resurrection is what should motivate us to saving faith, sacrificial living, and godly living.
