God's Searching and Saving Grace

Back to Message Archive

As we come to Christ we see things from an initial perspective that relates to what we were able to see in our experience. We see the role that we play in coming to Christ and we don’t know much more than that. All we really know is that Jesus offers salvation and we have chosen to place our faith in Him to save us from our sin. However, as we dive into God’s Word we are exposed to God’s perspective and work in our salvation and our minds are blown. Our perceptions are shown to be shortsighted. We see that what went into our salvation is so much more than we initially thought or understood. The role that we played in it was much like an iceberg that's tip above the surface level is only 10% of its total mass, while 90% of its mass rests out of sight beneath the water level. What we saw of our coming to Christ was only the tip of what was there. Beneath the surface of the water or working behind the scenes in the details of our lives and hearts God is doing a massive, miraculous work that we simply did not appreciate fully until we can gain a larger perspective. The Scriptures give us that much needed perspective and our passage tonight shows us God's Searching and Saving Grace as He pursues an Ethiopian Eunic.
