As Paul continues to speak to Timothy about how the body of Christ should behave he directs his attention to the women of the church who have been disruptive, as many have begun to follow after the false teachers in Ephesus (1 Tim 5:14-15). These false teachers are encouraging the women to abandon the roles that God has defined for them as women (4:1-3) and define their womanhood on their own. Paul uses verses 9-15 of chapter 2 to remind the women that character counts (vs. 9-10) and roles matter (vs. 11-15). (1 Timothy 2:9-15)
