Jesus said that you must be Born Again to see the kingdom of Heaven (John 3). The New Birth is synonymous with salvation, but the New Birth empowers so much more. It empowers the Christian life from start throughout the end of eternity. This truth should cause us to sit in awe of our powerful and sovereign God who works mightily in the hearts of His children. The work of the new birth is often overlooked b/c it is done to us rather than by us. We focus more on what we can see, namely faith and pursuit of Jesus, but the truth is the New Birth empowers all of this. There is much more to salvation and following Jesus than meets the eye. Just b/c we can't see this might work does not mean it is not there. God in HIs grace reveals it to us so we can get a more full picture of all that is going on within salvation. It could be likened to an ice berg. We only see the tip that is floating above the water (our faith and pursuit of Jesus), but when you get a more full perspective you see the tip of the ice berg is only a small portion of what makes it up. There is a huge mass that lies below the surface (the New Birth) of the water that holds up that tiny tip.
