Southern Hills - A Story of God's Grace and Kindness
Twelve years ago we moved to Round Rock and started a Bible study that would soon turn into a church. These twelve years have been an ongoing story of God’s grace and kindness as we have seen God grow and sustain a family of believers who are committed to seeing lives changed through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been one of the great joys of my life to pastor Southern Hills.
This Sunday, April 2, we will gather one last time as Southern Hills. But this is not the end of the story. It’s just another example of God’s kindness, grace and sovereignty.
A few months ago we were brought into a conversation with another local congregation who needed a pastor. Together we began discussing the possibility of uniting two congregations into one. Last week Faith Baptist Church of Round Rock voted to call me as their pastor and to welcome the people of Southern Hills into membership with them.
I'm still trying to process all that has taken place. But of this I am sure, God has been incredibly kind. Through this God has answered so many of the prayers that we have been praying for Southern Hills. God is allowing us to continue worshipping and serving together, but in a way that we never would have expected—and also, in a way that we believe will give us more opportunity for the sake of the Gospel in the community that we love so much.
We have already grown to love the people of Faith Baptist and we are very excited to begin worshipping as one congregation on Easter Sunday.
I know there are many of you who are reading this who have loved and prayed for Southern Hills for many, many years. I want you to know how thankful we are for you. I believe that God has used your prayers and the prayers of many others to sustain us and prepare us for this new season—a season that He had planned before Southern Hills ever began.
If you are in the Round Rock area, we would love to have you celebrate with us on Sunday, April 2 at 10am as we thank God for what He has done through Southern Hills. And then, we invite you to join us at Faith Baptist Church on Easter Sunday, April 9 at 11am as we celebrate Christ together.
God has certainly been kind. To Him be the Glory.
