Follow Me: Learning to Live the Commands of Jesus

Often when we are about to leave loved ones we make our final words to them important words. We remind them that we love them as we leave or as our wife leaves the house she reminds us of an important errand we need to run. When a manager leaves employees to run the store as he steps out he reminds them of work they need to take care of while he is gone. So what do we see from Jesus as He is leaving His disciples behind as He ascends back into Heaven? Listen to the final words of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of Mathew...

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them min the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Jesus last and final command to HIs followers was that they would take His commands and go out and teach them to others. Through the remainder of 2013 we will be looking at some of Jesus' greatest commands as we learn what it really means to follow Him. Our goal will be exactly what Jesus outlined. We are not interested in merely learning what Jesus' commands said, but we want to learn to live them ("teach them to observe") so that we can better follow Him in our daily lives.
